Happy Birthday!

Maxalynn, Alex and myself all survived the first year!

We had a small family party on Sunday the 17th and we will have a small friend party on Saturday the 23rd.  Today, her actual birthday, there is no party.  We will, however, be having dinner with Grammy and Papa.  Max was quite cranky today.  Hopefully after tomorrow's pediatrician appointment we will have some answers as to why she hasn't been herself lately.  Is it still her ears?  Her teeth?  Her poor bottom which can't seem to be rash free no matter what we try.

A whole year..... it's hard to imagine 12 months have flown by.  There were a few points when I really wasn't sure how we were going to pull thru.  But, again, we all made it!

Thank you Lord for a great first year and we ask that you guide us and protect us thru many many more.

Just around the corner

I can't believe it's almost been a year!  Our little angel is growing up and quickly showing her "true colors".  She loves to eat.  She can't get enough to eat!  She throws a fit when the food is gone.  We can't tell if she's still hungry or just thinks she wants more.  She is also starting to transition from 2 naps to 1 nap.  Each day seems to be a little different so I never know if she will be napping at 10:00 and 3:00 or just at 12:30.....it sure makes it difficult to plan anything!  The weather is starting to warm up so we are able to get outside a little more.  She loves going for walks, "petting" trees, smelling flowers and collecting leaves.  Yes, I finally believe she is my child!  We are looking forward to her big 1 year event next month.  Of course it's more for Alex and I than for Maxalynn.  Besides, we're the ones that kept her alive this past year, we should be celebrated!  :-)

Has it really been 2 months?

Oh my I am such a slacker at this!  That just means I've been occupied.

Our little Max is growing up SOOO quickly.  She is just over 10 months now and has changed dramatically in such a short time.

She now has 5 teeth, 3 on the bottom and 2 on the top.  She eats pretty much everything in sight, although she still does not like bananas (or anything mixed with bananas).  She is really enjoying all the finger food we give her.  She tends to love it too much and shoves all her food in at one time.  Her newest foods have been pulled pork (from City BBQ) and mango.  I just hope she continues the good eating habits!

She is crawling all over the place and is pulling herself up on things.  She walks very well when we hold her hands.  The only downside to all this mobility is that she now is very active in her crib.  Right after learning to crawl she spent the entire evening moving around her crib instead of going to sleep.  Now we find her sitting up in the crib asleep.  The poor little thing also talks in her sleep (at least she got something from her mommy....sorry kiddo).

She is looking more and more like Alex but her personality is a lot like mine.

I will do my best to not let 2 months slip by again......

A month of updates

Wow this is long overdue! Now that Maxalynn isn't nursing as long, or as often, I don't have much time on the computer. Anyway, here's what's been happening over the last month...

The true teething has started. Her bottom two teeth have pushed thru and are nearly all the way in. She was not a happy camper during these times. How many more have to come in yet? Ugh!

Max is still loving her veggies. She isn't as big of a fan of fruit, but she's warming up to them. She has also had scrambled eggs with no allergic reaction. (we didn't think there would be since there is no family history of it) Max is also enjoying "Puffs". No, not the tissues, they are little snacks for babies. The only things we found so far that she does not like are bananas and avocado.

At eight months old, the scales are tipping at just over 16 pounds. I find it quite funny that some people say she's a big baby (even chunky) while others say she's tiny (one person jokingly said she was malnourished). The real kicker is when someone will give a certain opinion and then when they see her again a month later they state the opposite. Go figure. :-)

We are looking forward to our first Christmas with her.....more to come on that topic!

So many things to be thankful for

What a Thanksgiving week!

It all started with gorgeous weather. We spent most of Sunday in Granville enjoying a pre-Thanksgiving meal. It was sunny and nearly 70 degrees. We took advantage of the weather by going for a little walk and having a mini photo shoot. The dinner was amazing and Maxalynn was in such good spirits.

Mid-week brought a few tears. Maxalynn started pushing thru her 2 bottom teeth. They were just slivers, but painful none the less.

Gobble gobble! We hit the road on Thanksgiving day and headed up to Fremont. We made a quick stop at my dad's then had a feast at Dawn's. Maxalynn was quite a hit! The younger cousins (Mitch, Tate and Trent) made a huge fuss over her and kept taking turns holding her. Who would have thought pre-teen boys would be so excited to "play" with a baby! This day was extra special because she started saying DaDa. Sure, she may not actually associate the word with Alex, but it's a start. Although the weather was less than perfect for traveling, Maxalynn slept the whole way up and the whole way back.

To round out the week, we are heading to Lancaster on Saturday for a post-Thanksgiving celebration with Nichole and her family.

Thank you Lord for all the wonderful blessings you have given us. Each and every day is a gift.

Dedication

What an awesome day! It started with an amazing church service. Melanie Forsythe has an amazing gift when it comes to prayer and sharing the word of God. We were surrounded by family, friends and the Holy Spirit. We then had a delicious lunch at our house. Max's Nana (my mom) came down a few days early to help clean, cook and entertain Maxalynn. The entire experience was great. We are blessed to have so many people that love us.

Ba ba ba

Max started with the P sound. Everything out of her mouth was puh puh puh. Now she has added a new sound to her vocabulary - BA. We try to get her to say Dada or Mama but it hasn't worked yet. We will say it, she looks like she is concentrating really hard, she pushes her lips together and out comes Ba Ba Ba Ba. Close enough for now!
